CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Lorain man pleaded guilty Wednesday and faces a likely life sentence for paying people to sexually abuse children on a webcam as he watched, prosecutors said.
Robert Ray, 52, was arrested in July on a child-pornography possession charge. Authorities said Ray had between two and three terabytes of child pornography on a laptop and 25 hard drives, which at last count amounted to 1,511 movies and 126,167 images.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian McDonough said that amount is the largest seized in the Northern District of Ohio, and possibly the state.
A further investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation turned up at least 13 videos from 2009 and 2013 in which Ray paid for adults to abuse young children on camera, McDonough said. Some of the victims were toddlers.
