William Marsh, of Independence, Missouri, was indicted on 33 counts including Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor, Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, Pandering Sexually-Oriented Matter Involving a Minor, Importuning, Disseminating Matter Harmful to Juveniles, and Possessing Criminal Tools. Marsh was sentenced to five years in prison and will be required to register as a Tier II sexual offender upon his release. Prior to beginning to serve this sentence, Marsh will be extradited to Arizona to face charges in a very similar case.
Charge Detail:
The charges stem from an arrest by the Solon Police Department on June 8, 2014 at a Solon hotel. A Pennsylvania woman staying at the hotel with her 15-year-old daughter called police when she could not find her daughter. When police responded, the girl had been found and admitted that she had been in Marsh’s hotel room and engaged in sexual activity. Police found video cameras, child pornography, sex toys and other paraphernalia in Marsh’s room.

The girl said she had met Marsh online and had been exchanging messages and explicit photos via the mobile app KIK for months. Marsh knew the girl and her mother would be staying at the hotel and made plans to travel to meet her to engage in sexual activity. Marsh initially denied knowing the girl was underage, but messages between the two clearly indicated otherwise.

The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted Solon Police with forensic examinations of victim’s and defendant’s cell phones as well as computers and video equipment from Marsh’s hotel room. Investigators found numerous files depicting child pornography in Marsh’s possession.
