Former Lorain County magistrate judge indicted on child pornography charges
4/29/2015
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A former Lorain County magistrate accused of having child pornography on his computer was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury.
James Paterson, 49, is charged with receiving images and videos of
minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of child
pornography. If convicted, he faces a minimum of five years in federal
prison.
Paterson, who lives in Lorain, admitted to an FBI agent in a March 30
interview that he had between 500 and 1,000 images and 200 videos of
child pornography on his computer, according to a criminal complaint
filed earlier this month. He also admitted to posting comments on
websites where he claimed he was a pedophile, though he also said he
never abused any children.
