Former Indiana school principal convicted of child pornography charges sentenced to five to 20 years in prison

11/5/2014 JACKSON, MI – A former Indiana middle school principal convicted of multiple child pornography charges will spend a minimum of five years in prison for the crimes.

Michael Ettenberger was sentenced Wednesday, Nov. 5, to five to 20 years in prison by Jackson County Circuit Judge John G. McBain on a charge of child sexually abusive activity for possession of inappropriate images and a video of a 9-year-old girl he received from Jill Miller in 2013.

On Sept. 25, a jury found Ettenberger, 47, guilty of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, child sexually abusive activity, using computers with the intent to communicate to commit a crime and possession of "child sexually abusive material."

Miller is serving a prison sentence of six to 15 years for her part in the inappropriate images and video. In December, she pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct, a "child sexually abusive material" offense and communication with another on the Internet to commit a crime.

McBain also sentenced Ettenberger to five to 15 years on the second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, five to 20 years for using computers with the intent to communicate to commit a crime and one to four years in prison for possession of "child sexually abusive material."

Ettenberger was credited 336 days for time served.

Ettenberger will serve the sentences concurrently.
